This month’s energy usage figures are in for Claydon Court. The bad news is our emissions are rising overall and per person alongside the outdoor temperature at the moment.
April was a typically capricious month temperature-wise albeit with an overall increase from last month. As a consequence, we have had to see-saw between heating and cooling of buildings which is clearly expensive in energy terms. Exacerbating this of course is the fact that several spaces are highly susceptible to solar heat gain and therefore heat up particularly quickly and stay that way as everything receiving sun becomes a radiator when it’s sunny.
We’re currently scoping out innovative passive solar shading mechanisms to combat this, so watch this space and keep up the work on keeping energy consumption down to a minimum!
